IMTS - The International Manufacturing Technology Show helps to get ideas and find answers to manufacturing problems. New technologies will be demonstrated and explained.
Brake disk coated with high-speed cladding process – awarded with the Fraunhofer prize; Improvement of wear resistance of brake discs (cast iron component, very challenging to weld) with laser material deposition/high-speed laser material deposition with very small layer thicknesses and extremely low heat input.
Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) manufactured demonstrators using pulse modulation, reaching worldwide unmatched resultion and surface quality will be presented at IMTS 2018.
Integrated sensors enable embedded mechanical and thermal monitoring of components in the field of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) for the detection of defective elements as well as the collection of machine- or product-relevant data. The Fraunhofer ILT manufactures these sensors using printing and laser functionalization technologies. These digital, inline-capable processes enable the flexible production of a variants without adaptation of tools or masks.
