Mikro- und Nanostrukturierung

Unser Leistungsangebot

Aufgrund des geringen Wärmeeintrags in Werkstücke und der hohen Strahlqualität wird gepulste, insbesondere ultrakurz gepulste (UKP), Laserstrahlung verwendet, um hochpräzise funktionelle Mikro- und Nanostrukturen zu erzeugen. Diese schonende Art der subtraktiven Lasermaterialbearbeitung lässt sich für eine Vielzahl von Prozessen nutzen, beispielsweise für das Strukturieren, Abtragen, Bohren, Schneiden oder für das selektive Dünnschichtabtragen. Im Gegensatz zu vielen mechanischen Verfahren arbeitet der Laser nahezu verschleißfrei und mit hoher Produktivität.

Um hohe mittlere Leistungen – etwa im Multi-hundert Watt-Bereich – in Abtragprozessen effizient einsetzen zu können und die Produktivität der Verfahren zu steigern, werden neue Ansätze der Laserstrahlführung erprobt und in reale Systeme umgesetzt. Bei der parallelisierten Multistrahlbearbeitung wird der eingehende Laserstrahl in mehrere Einzelstrahlen aufgeteilt. Dieses Konzept wurde am Fraunhofer ILT u. a. für Bohranwendungen in der Filter- und Siebtechnik oder für Beschichtungsmasken umgesetzt. Damit wurden bereits Bohrraten bis 12.000 Bohrungen/s mit Präzision im Mikrometerbereich erzielt. Neben der Parallelisierung von Prozessen werden Strahlformungskonzepte entwickelt, die insbesondere für die effiziente Bearbeitung von Glas, Saphir, Keramiken, Halbleitern und heterogenen Schichtsystemen notwendig sind.

Mikro- oder Nanostrukturen lassen sich z. B. in der optischen Industrie als Antireflexionsbeschichtungen oder Polarisatoren, in der Elektronik und Messtechnik als neuartige sensorische Elemente oder in der Medizin und Biotechnologie als nanoskalige Partikelfilter nutzen.

Das Leistungsangebot umfasst die Entwicklung von Verfahren und Systemen, Machbarkeitsstudien, die Simulation und Modellierung sowie individuelle Beratung.

Der Ultrakurzpulslaser als Werkzeug für die Präzisionsfertigung findet eine immer breitere Akzeptanz unter den industriellen Anwendern. Insbesondere wird diese Entwicklung bedingt durch systemtechnische Neu- oder Weiterentwicklungen, welche eine signifikante Steigerung der Produktivität zulassen. Eine deutliche Produktivitätssteigerung war auch das Ziel eines Teams aus Industrie und Forschung, das auf der Jahrestagung der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft am 9. Oktober 2020 den Wissenschaftspreis des Stifterverbands für Verbundforschung erhielt. Das Team hat eine Technologie entwickelt, bei der ein Laserstrahl in bis zu 16 Teilstrahlen aufgeteilt wird. Das sind 16 Werkzeuge, die parallel und individuell gesteuert für die Herstellung funktionaler Oberflächen eingesetzt werden können.

Grüner Wasserstoff ist der Energieträger der Zukunft. Zu den potentiellen Anwendungsgebieten zählen die Mobilität sowie die Hausenergieversorgung auf Brennstoffzellenbasis. Für eine breite Marktdurchdringung bedarf es neben technologischen Weiterentwicklungen vor allem einer deutlichen Kostenreduktion entlang der Wertschöpfungsketten von Elektrolyseuren, Brennstoffzellen und deren Komponenten.

Am Fraunhofer ILT werden hochproduktive Laserverfahren entwickelt, die bei der Skalierung der Herstellungsprozesse eine entscheidende Rolle spielen.
