The BRAACHEN program

The BRAACHEN international internship program is a result of a long and successful partnership between Brazil's best engineering universities and the Fraunhofer ILT and Fraunhofer IPT.  The program enables top students from our Partner Universities to:

🔧 Apply their knowledge in real high complex industry research in Germany

📖 Get to know the German culture, language and research environment.

🤝 Work in a friendly environment, make international friends and also enjoy their internship vacation in Europe to travel and broaden their horizons.

The internship lasts one year and fifteen days and starts every year on January 16 and July 16. However at the Fraunhofer ILT, students are only able to start in July.

The program is running succesfully since 2002, which means there is a substantial support structure to aid participants of the BRAACHEN program during their preparation and their time in Germany. The program coordinators will help with administrative work or questions during your stay, and for networking on site, there's the BRAACHEN BBQ – an event organized by current or former BRAACHEN participants to welcome the new students and celebrate our partnership.

Since each student is pre-selected by their professor in their home university in Brazil, there is no application process. Interested students are advised to check the list of our partner universities below and get in touch with their local BRAACHEN coordinator. Applications are only considered when sent directly from the professor of partner universities.

A list of all selected students will then be sent to the respective institute's program coordinator who will check for open spots in the scientific departments. If there is a match, the student will be invited to an interview with the program coordinator and/or the research fellow.
