Studies

Students of natural sciences and engineering with an interest in laser technology will find an ideal environment at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, the Chair for Laser Technology LLT, the Chair for Technology of Optical Systems TOS and the Nonlinear Dynamics of Laser Manufacturing Processes Instruction and Research Department NLD at RWTH Aachen University to acquire fundamental and practical knowledge.

The advantages of this internationally recognized competence center are obvious: state-of-the-art infrastructure, excellent industrial contacts, methodological competence in project management, team spirit and entrepreneurial spirit, international employees, short communication channels and stays abroad in the subsidiaries in the USA and France. Based on their experience at the Fraunhofer ILT, some employees set up their own company after completing their thesis or doctorate.

Robot system with LMD head and integrated laser line scanner, realized in the BMBF-funded project ProLMD: Scanning of the additive manufactured repair volume on the component. Thanks to the use of a fiber-guided system, the KUKA robot can operate with nearly no restrictions and can also manufacture complex geometrical shapes.
