Our range of services

Mastering complexity is a growing challenge in production. From the design of a device to the manufacturing process, new degrees of freedom are created that often cannot be adequately grasped by humans. In most practical applications today, a full-factor experimentation across all possible combinations has been replaced by "Design of Experiments" (DoE) methods. In addition, methods based on Monte Carlo simulations enable constant progress in speed and reliability of virtual experimentation. Machine learning (ML) as a precursor of artificial intelligence has already demonstrated its capabilities in this area for logistics and finance.

The AI Laser Laboratory (Artificial Intelligence, AI) provides space for experimenting with Machine Learning (ML) and Neural Networks (NN) in relation to Artificial Intelligence. Specially developed software solutions provide algorithms for direct application testing in simulation and production. The evaluation of the results is presented to the user in an understandable way via visualization environments so that decisions can be derived. The AI Laser Laboratory goes one step further with its practical offerings - it provides an environment for the safe operation of technical systems in which AI solutions are used for control.

We pave the way for the application of artificial intelligence in laser-based manufacturing.

Toolbox for data analysis

  • Application tests for ML/AI approaches on existing data sets with regard to the identification of possible application scenarios
  • Modules to support variant tests with regard to optimized overall results
  • Access to the AI-Toolbox of Fraunhofer ILT for one's own application of ML/AI algorithms on self-procured data sets

Application environment

  • Development of application scenarios with regard to laser technology related questions
  • Training of AI networks on the basis of predefined questions
  • Validation of ML models and AI networks in isolated application environments
